Questions, answered

The things people ask before they book. If yours is not here, message Pilar — she replies personally.

What is colour analysis?

Colour analysis reads the natural colouring of your skin, eyes and hair. In a Confidence in Colour session, Pilar drapes coloured fabrics under your chin in natural daylight so you can see which shades make you look brighter and which drain you. The result is your colour season — Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter — and a personal palette. It is not a personality test, and it is not the season you were born in.

How long does colour analysis take?

A colour analysis consultation is two hours. Colour + Body Shape is three hours, both at the Ilkley studio. A wardrobe edit at your home is three hours. Colour parties and hen parties usually run for around three to four hours, depending on the size of the group. Personal shopping is a two-hour session or half a day.

What should I wear, and do I need makeup?

Come as you are. For a one-to-one consultation, little or no makeup is ideal, so your natural colouring is easy to see. Everything else is taken care of. For a hen party or group day, no makeup is best for the draping, and Pilar explains what is about to happen when you arrive.

How do I find out my colour season?

You can start with the free two-minute quiz for an indication, or read the guide to the four seasons. Hair dye, a tan, screens and photo filters all mislead, and most people sit between two seasons until fabric is held against the face. To know for certain, book a draping consultation in natural daylight. There are four seasons, and each splits into three sub-seasons.

Where does the session take place?

Colour analysis and Colour + Body Shape take place at Pilar's home studio in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, because draping needs consistent natural daylight. There is parking nearby, and full directions come with your booking confirmation. Ilkley station is on the Leeds and Bradford lines and is a short distance from the studio. Wardrobe edits happen at your home. Personal shopping runs in Leeds, York or Harrogate. Parties can be at your venue or at the studio.

How much does it cost?

Colour analysis is £150 for two hours. Colour + Body Shape is £225 for three hours. A wardrobe edit at home is £175, and the colour analysis and wardrobe edit together are £300. Personal shopping starts at £350 for two hours. Colour parties are from £60 per person, for groups of 4 to 12. You book the colour consultation online and pay securely by card.

Can I buy a gift voucher?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available for colour analysis (£150), a wardrobe edit (£175) or colour and wardrobe together (£300). A custom amount is also possible. The voucher is delivered by email, with your personal message, on the date you choose, and it is valid for 12 months. The recipient books with the voucher code.

Do you do parties and hen parties?

Yes. Hen parties and parties and team days are for groups of 4 to 12, from £60 per person. Every guest is draped, prosecco is included, and each person leaves with a digital colour guide. Pilar comes to your home, holiday cottage or venue across Yorkshire, including the Dales, or you can host at the Ilkley studio. A typical party lasts around three to four hours. Hen packages also include a spotlight moment for the bride.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes. Many clients bring a friend, mum or daughter to a consultation. If you would both like your colours done, book a shared session. For a bigger group, a party is usually the better fit.

Do you offer virtual colour analysis?

No. Colour draping needs true daylight and a mirror between you and Pilar, so consultations are in person. Photographs and screens distort colour, which is why a palette app or a video call is not a substitute for draping.

What do I leave with?

Your season, an explanation of why, makeup and jewellery guidance, and a personal digital colour guide on your phone to use in changing rooms and online. Support does not stop at the door: if you have a question afterwards about something you have found, you can ask Pilar. A wardrobe edit also leaves you with outfit photos and a short shopping list.

Can my colour season change?

Your underlying colouring does not change. Hair colour, going grey and a tan do change how shades look on you, which is why some clients come back after a change of hair. If you have had your colours done before, a fresh analysis often shows whether anything has shifted, and you still leave with an up-to-date digital guide.

How do I book?

Colour analysis is booked online: choose your date, pay securely by card through Stripe, and you are confirmed. The studio is open Tuesday to Saturday. For a wardrobe edit, personal shopping day or party, send an enquiry and Pilar will confirm availability. She replies personally, usually within a day. You can also WhatsApp or email pilar@confidenceincolour.com.
