Deep Winter
Depth is the strongest feature. Black, pine green, aubergine and deep burgundy are at their best.
Winter · Colour season guide
Cool, clear and dramatic. Winter colours have the clarity of a frosty morning: true red, emerald, royal blue and hot pink. Winter is the one season that genuinely wears black well.
Who suits it
Winters have cool, strong colouring: dark brown or black hair, or strikingly cool ash tones. Eyes are deep brown, clear blue or cool green, and the whites of the eyes contrast sharply with the iris. Skin can be porcelain, olive or deep, but always has a cool cast. The overall impression is high contrast.
In practice
Your neutrals. Pure white, black, charcoal and true navy make the Winter base. Winter is the only season that wears black near the face without being drained.
Jewellery. Silver, platinum and white gold. Gold suits Bright Winter best of the three.
Going deeper
Every season splits three ways. Most people who get their colours wrong have the right season but the wrong sub-season, which is why draping matters.
Depth is the strongest feature. Black, pine green, aubergine and deep burgundy are at their best.
Coolness is the strongest feature. True red, icy pink and sapphire suit, and warmth of any kind jars.
Clarity is the strongest feature. Emerald, hot pink and clear cobalt look spectacular; muted shades go dull.
