If you are searching for alternative hen party ideas in Yorkshire, the list is usually a cocktail class, a spa afternoon, or something with sashes. They are fine. They are also what the last three brides already did, and they leave the mums politely waiting for it to finish.
A colour analysis hen do is the one I would put on the list instead. It works from late teens to grandmothers, and everyone goes home with a season and a digital colour guide she will still be using when she shops. The packages and the enquiry form are on the hen parties page. This is how to plan it into a Yorkshire weekend.
Who it is for
It is for the bride who wants something different, and for the friend who has been asked to organise it and would like one price, one enquiry, and no one left out.
Mixed-age groups are some of the best days. The bride's mum, her mother-in-law and her nineteen-year-old cousin all get draped. All of them find out whether they are a Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. All of them go home with their own colour guide. There are no silly games, no forfeits and no matching T-shirts. Guests who would quietly dread a club crawl can come to an afternoon or early evening and enjoy it.
Prosecco is part of the welcome. The day is not a drinking game. A guest who skips the glass still does the same thing as everyone else: she sits in the chair, watches the fabrics, and leaves knowing her colours. The favour is the guide, not the drink.
What actually happens
A colour hen party runs for around three to four hours, depending on the size of the group. Groups of 4 to 12 work best: small enough that every guest gets personal draping time, big enough for a proper party. If you are bigger than that, send an enquiry and we will see what can be planned.
This is how a typical session runs.
You arrive, glasses are filled for anyone who wants one, and I explain what is about to happen and why colour changes a face. Then, one by one, each guest is draped in different coloured fabrics. The group watches. The wrong colours drain. The right ones light her up. There are usually gasps.
Each guest finds out her season, and what that means for her wardrobe, makeup and jewellery. The bride gets her own moment in the middle of it, with the group cheering her on. That spotlight is on every package. It is not an optional extra you have to remember to book.
Everyone leaves with a personal digital colour guide on her phone. That is the hen party favour. She will use it in changing rooms long after the weekend.
Come as you are. No makeup is best for the draping, and I explain everything on arrival, so nobody needs a briefing document the night before.
The three packages
Prices are per person. Every package includes prosecco, colour draping for every guest, and a personal digital colour guide each.
Essential is £60. Welcome prosecco, full colour draping for each guest, the season reveal and palette explanation, and the digital guide.
Ultimate is £70. Everything in Essential, plus extended draping and styling advice, makeup colour guidance, and bridesmaid colour coordination. Useful when the wedding party is in the room.
VIP Bride is £85. Everything in Ultimate, plus an extended one-to-one for the bride, wedding-day colour direction, and keepsake photo moments. The bride still gets a spotlight on Essential. VIP is the longer version of her, with the wedding day specifically in mind.
One price per person, and you send one enquiry. I reply personally, usually within a day. Weekend dates book up, so ask before the cottage is paid for. A deposit secures the date once availability is confirmed. Payment is by Stripe.
Where in Yorkshire
I come to you, or you come to me.
That can be a home, a holiday cottage, or a venue. I travel across Yorkshire, including Ilkley, Leeds, Harrogate, York, Skipton and the Dales. Sessions can also be hosted at the studio in Ilkley. There is no second studio in Skipton or York.
A Dales cottage is a normal booking. The drive from Skipton to the studio is about 25 to 40 minutes if you would rather come to me. Plenty of groups simply have the party at the cottage.
Leeds, Harrogate and York are ordinary journeys too. The areas page has the rough times. A one-to-one colour analysis, if the bride wants one on another day, stays at the studio. The hen party does not have to.
Planning the weekend around it
Keep the colour party as one block in the middle of the weekend, not a thing you try to squeeze between two other bookings.
An afternoon slot is the easiest shape. Three to four hours leaves the morning free at the cottage and the evening for a meal. Ilkley and Harrogate are both easy places to eat afterwards if you are at the studio or on that side of the county. Book whatever suits the group. I will not point you at a particular restaurant. Leave a gap so nobody is watching a reservation during the bride's turn.
If you are in a Dales cottage, have the party there. You already have the kettle and the sofas. I bring the drapes. An early evening works as well as an afternoon if that is when people arrive. It does not need to be a late night.
Tell me the real headcount when you enquire, including the aunties who are only coming for a bit. Ask people to arrive with little or no makeup. If bridesmaid colours are part of the job, say so. That coordination sits in Ultimate and VIP Bride.
We booked Pilar for a hen do and it was the highlight of the whole weekend. Everyone loved discovering their colours — so much fun and so much laughter.
That is Sarah B., who organised the hen do.
If you are the one holding the group chat
You need a date, a room with enough chairs, and a headcount between 4 and 12. I will tell you if the date is free.
The packages sit side by side on the hen party page. If you already know you want it, check the date.
